Eis - eis is the bridge in the continuum of care that joins hiv prevention to hiv treatment and care services. Us Helping Us' eis consists of a variety of outreach and education approaches including use of its mobile health units to reach communities with limited access to hiv and other other healthcare services. Thus, the primary goal is to identify persons with hiv that are unaware of their status and link them to medicare treatment and care and other essential support services to address other unmet needs.
Hiv counseling, testing, and referral services - Us Helping Us has developed an innovative integrated screening model that incorporates hiv testing using rapid testing technologies with testing for other sexual transmitted infections, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and hepatitis c. testing is completed in 30 minutes and is completely confidential. Individuals with reactive tests are linked to the appropriate treatment and/or care, including onsite std treatment. Individuals with a reactive hiv test are linked to hiv care within 72 hours. Finally, individuals and members of priority populations such as black gay men and black transwomen are referred to prep and other essential support services.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (prep) - prep is a biomedical innovation that prevents someone who is hiv-negative from acquiring hiv, if taken as prescribed. Us Helping Us provides prep services, including prep education and referral services, prep care (prescriptions), and other prep navigation services (e.g., patient assistance, insurance navigation). Us Helping Us also provides community-based education about prep and has several research studies to understand mechanisms to increase prep uptake in key populations.
