US Human Rights Network

USHRN conducted myriad programming and engagement opportunities which are the reason people connect with the organization, whether to increase understanding and access to fellow activists and/or human rights mechanisms and special procedures. Highlights from 2021 include: (1) high level engagement with the member states and a global coalition of colleagues including major multi-national NGOs and other allies during the Human Rights Council process; (2) shared information on and attended Zoom webinars and meetings as speaker and/or attendee regarding OAS-IACHR input pending decisions on Permanent Forum for People of African Descent; (3) supported member's local campaigns upon request, sharing their information via USHRN communications; participated in four State Department briefings, invited as part of the US civil society and our organization to provide feedback and priorities to the DOJ and DOS and an interagency team from the new administration (UPR, CERD, HRC and Implementation discussions) with members; (4) provided thought leadership and initial people's petition for pre-HRC cs activation. In addition, USHRN sponsored "Drum Beat 21 National Gathering" which was a virtual National Gathering with nearly 300 registrants and an average of 70 participants through 11 sessions.
