Program areas at Utopian Seed Project

Crop Trials: Our crop trials work has included on-farm research projects and off-farm collaborations. We are working with wide variety diversity of traditional southern crops and tropical perennials grown as temperate annuals at two farm sites in Western North Carolina. We are also working with academic and community partners to grow out community plant breeding projects (Okra Seed Oil and Taro).
Crop Stories: Crop Stories is a magazine and audio project to celebrate and educate around crop diversity. In 2023 we have been promoting and distributing the Collards issue while working on content for the Southern Pea issue and developing the website.
