Program areas at Valencia Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence
During fy2023, Valencia Shelter services (vss) continued our mission to provide crisis intervention, comprehensive victim services, hope, justice, and healing to survivors of Domestic Violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, and to make systemic change to end demographical and generational cycles of abuse. Vss provided a total of 4,798 emergency Shelter bed nights and 9,952 housing bed nights, 9,820 victim service contacts, offender rehabilitation services to 43 offenders, and 24-hour crisis intervention hotline, emergency Shelter, housing assistance, personal advocacy and legal advocacy, counseling services, and prevention education to 1,396 adult and child survivors. The vss child advocacy center (cac) received national accreditation, conducted 155 forensic interviews, staffed a total of 124 cases, tracked a total of 193 active cac-affiliated cases, held 32 inter-agency, cross- sector multidisciplinary team (mdt) meetings across Valencia, socorro, catron and torrance counties and laguna and isleta pueblos, provided 5 different trainings and community partner presentations to the 3 mdts, and grew mdt partner participation across all counties and expanded awareness of the mdt process and cac model.
