Program areas at Valentino Achak Deng Foundation
Girls education in the form of an all girls school (alok girls' academy) is the vad Foundation's largest program. In 2022, about 800 girls enrolled at aga. Due to unforseen circumstances with the old campus, the Foundation created a scholarship program so that students can attend a local school and still receive education until a new aga is built (the Foundation is currently fundraising for construction of new campus). Students attend classes february through december (south sudan academic school year) where staff of teachers conduct lessons in english, science, mathematics, writing, history, and geography. Students also participate in extracirricular activities such as soccer and volleyball, drama club, and debate team. Our traditional education/schooling program is the largest program at the vad Foundation and our primary focus.
