Our mission is to shape policy, guide Development, and provide outreach to preserve natural resources, protect rural character, and promote vibrant communities in teton Valley through civic action. To advocate for the private, public and civic actions that will result in the Responsible Development and sustainable use of natural resources(water, land, wildlife and air) in teton Valley. Program areas at Valley Advocates for Responsible Development

Vard as a Development watchdog in teton Valley: vard tracks Development activity in the five government jurisdictions that comprise teton Valley. Vard staffers prepare comments and attend public meetings on behalf of vard's 932 members. Watchdog activities include: performing a technical review for Development proposals, reaching out to/negotiating with developers, educating the public about Development activities, and taking legal action when necessary.
Vard as a free educational resource available to all: vard provides free consultation services for developers, citizens, homeowner associations, governments, and all others seeking to address key planning and conservation issues in teton Valley.
Vard as a collaborative force: vard works with several government, nonprofit, and business nonprofits to secure funding and other resources for large conservation and community Development projects in teton Valley.
Vard as a resource for local government: provided public comments to teton county's planning and zoning commission and the board of county commissioners, as well as extensive outreach and educational opportunities to vard membership about teton county's updated land Development code - adopted in 2023 - to accompany the 2012 comprehensive plan.
