See schedule ovalor Christian High School is a Christian faith community that provides an independent, college-preparatory School located in highlands ranch, Colorado. Valor accomplishes its mission primarily by bringing together groups of individuals (staff, students and volunteers) to engage in bible-centered devotional and educational worship activities in accordance with Valor's Christian religious beliefs. The central expression of communal worship at Valor is the wednesday weekly chapel service for the entire community. The additional activities described below all build upon and extend this worship experience. Standing firmly behind its vision to prepare tomorrow's leaders to transform the world for christ, a Valor education provides a rigorous academic program in a christ-centered environment maintaining a 11:1 student to teaching faculty ratio. Valor opened its doors in the fall of 2007 and has since grown from 155 to over 1,200 students serving grades 9th - 12th. The 2020-21 School year marked the organization's 14th year of schooling. As it enters its second decade, the School remains committed to its core values to honor christ in everything it does, to conduct planning and make decisions based on what is in the best interest of students and to partner with parents as the primary influencers of their children's lives. Valor is fully accredited with both cognia and the association of Christian Schools international (acsi) in which it maintains exemplary status. In addition, Valor is also a charter member of the council on educational standards and accountability (cesa) and received the prestigious 2015 national blue ribbon Schools award by the united states department of education, representing one of only three private High Schools in the country to receive the award that year. Valor's courses meet the very best educational standards and are taught in a manner to prepare students for future academic challenge without jeopardizing or diluting the importance of a Christian world view. Over 65% of Valor's faculty have advanced degrees, with 9 individuals holding doctorates. Valor students cover a wide spectrum of learning styles, including students who are neural atypical. As a result, Valor takes academic support very seriously to maximize learning and success for all students. Formal academic accommodations are offered to those students who have a diagnosed learning difficulty. In addition, many other support services are offered such as individual tutoring, academic coaching and management, peer tutoring, standardized test prep, online courses and summer School. Arts+media:valor's arts+media department is passionate about reclaiming the arts for christ and equipping students with the knowledge and inspiration required to express the Christian heart in a relevant, artistic and authentic manner. The faculty is actively doing, as well as teaching, their respective disciplines, and is able, therefore, to combine theory with professional viability, knowledge with inspiration. The eight core areas in the arts+media department include recording, dance, design, film, music, photography, studio arts and theatre. Approximately 83% of students are involved in arts+media and there are approximately 40 different course offerings. The Valor conservatory for the arts is an endorsement program that combines individualized, exceptional arts training with christ-centered mentorship, offering students competitive advantages for college, career and life pursuits. Seventeen customized course majors allow students to go deep in their areas of passion, offering choreographed experiences and private lessons to help students grow and create at an advanced level. Over 125 students were enrolled in the conservatory experience and the program continues to grow in popularity and depth of artistic talent. Athletics:valor athletics focuses on four core values: strengthening athletes' faith in jesus christ; developing excellence in Christian character based on the life and teachings of jesus christ; instilling great work habits; and teaching, stressing, and monitoring the primacy of academics. Athletic offerings cover 25 chsaa sanctioned sports with over 75% student involvement. In 2020-21, 75 senior athletes, representing 18 different sports, committed to continue their athletic careers in college and received over $1.3 million in athletic only scholarships or selective admission. 40 out of the 75 senior athletes will be playing at division i Schools. Valor employs full-time coaches, offers a college-styled individualized strength and conditioning program, provides sports medicine professionals to aid in recovery and injury prevention plus offer some of the highest levels of training in the state of Colorado. Valor is equally committed to raising up young men and women of Christian character who understand godly worship through competitive sports. Valor wants each student athlete to play for an audience of one. Service:through the discovery program, students gain a new understanding of god as they experience diverse cultures, apply lessons from the classroom and come alongside families marginalized by poverty. Valor students have learned to love and to serve people throughout the world as they bring glory to god. Through discovery's broad spectrum of intercultural experiences, students integrate their faith as they grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, in leadership and character. Discovery helps create a structure and an experience, which seeks to break down cultural, racial, economic, ethnic and religious barriers. Students learn to love all people and become leaders transforming the world for christ. They are transformed as they are empowered to discover and develop their unique gifts and abilities as they compassionately serve the less fortunate, engage in contrasting worldviews, cultural practices and belief systems, with the redemptive power of the gospel, for the glory of god. Valor students are required to engage in 100 hours of service during their four years at Valor but the ultimate desire is for them to learn to love service. Since inception, over 285,000 hours of service have been offered by Valor students in their own communities and abroad. During the 2020-21 School year alone, over 19,000 service hours were recorded on 29 different experiences.
