Vermont Cares increases access to care, reduces social stigmas, and builds relationships by providing life-saving harm reduction services, education, and resources to Vermonters affected by HIV, hepatitis C, and substance use. The organization offers safe syringe access, syringe disposal, overdose prevention, wound care prevention, low barrier access to sub through both site-based and mobile service models. Vermont Cares also provides medical case management, medical transportation, medication assistance, housing support and nutritional assistance to individuals living with HIV.

Program areas at Vermont Cares

Hiv services- Vermont Cares provides hiv care and support to vermonters living with hiv through medical case management, medical transportation, medication assistance, housing support, nutritional assistance, and other services that help to maintain overall wellbeing of those we serve. We also provide hiv prevention services which include access to free safer sex supplies, free hiv testing and community based events and education for area schools, organizations and individuals. Client assistance- Vermont Cares provides emergency financial assistance to people living with hiv and to individuals living with substance use disorder and at risk of hiv.
Harm reduction services- Vermont Cares provides an array of harm reduction services through both site-based and mobile service models which include safe syringe access, syringe disposal, overdose prevention, wound care prevention, low barrier access to substance use treatment, case management, and other basic life needs support. Through our statewide mobile program we are reaching vermonters in underserved rural parts of the state where public transportation is a barrier to access. We also provide education on harm reduction and overdose prevention to community-based organizations, medical providers, ems providers, schools and more.
