Program areas at Versability Resources

Community living- Versability Resources provides residential services in eight homes throughout hampton, newport news, and york county that provide a safe, supportive home for adults with disabilities. Our homes are unique in that they offer a variety of leisure and recreation activities. Staff develop monthly activity calendars with input from the residents that emphasizes community engagement at its core. We work directly with people seeking housing support, aging parents needing assistance for their children, families who plan to move their loves ones out of an institution, or those who want a more independent living option nearby. Caring staff provides support 24/7/365. Nurses and dieticians are available for both long and short-term health needs. Versability is an equal housing opportunity provider and does business in accordance with the fair housing amendment. We are licensed through the Virginia department of health.
Federal contracts- Versability Resources has 12 government contracts at various installations throughout hampton roads and across the nation where people with disabilities work alongside military personnel and earn competitive wages. These unique and challenging jobs include manufacturing eyeglasses, administration, distributing military mail, maintaining grounds in high visibility areas, custodial, assisting with food preparation and distribution, and Versability is the prime contractor for loading food on ships for the navy at numerous locations nationwide, which amounts to more than 300 jobs for people with disabilities.
Employment services-versability Resources creates employment opportunities for people of all abilities, including those with disabilities. We offer jobs and career opportunities based on professional interests and personal goals. In addition to the pride, dignity, and independence that comes with earning ones own wages, consistent work allows people with disabilities to improve their health by engaging in ongoing physical activity and regular social interaction. We are a leader in federal contracts that employ people with disabilities and boast a supported employment program that provides job opportunities in the hampton roads community and surrounding region. We offer work readiness and training programs that help students with documented disabilities prepare for the future. Versability is also able to offer a skilled workforce to perform a variety of contract work for business partners. We support regional and international companies through production, manufacturing, x-ray and paper scanning, logistics, assembly, and more. Our supported employment program helps regional businesses thrive while creating community-based employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Skilled employment specialists provide on-site training and long-term follow-along supervision to help each individual succeed in their job and ensure employers throughout hampton roads are pleased with the partnership. High school students with disabilities are guided from the special education classroom to successful employment by providing on-the-job training and paid employment through our school-year transition to work program. Our pre-ets discovery academy takes place over the summer and focuses on work-based learning experiences and instruction in self-advocacy. Individuals with disabilities in Versability's employment services program in hampton receive paid employment, job training, and supports not typically available in other business settings (ex: behavioral prompts). Individuals perform a variety of work, such as light manufacturing, scanning x-rays and documents, order fulfillment, and coordinating mailings. We utilize jigs that help people with mobility issues excel in work. Versability's skilled workforce of people with disabilities meets regional business needs and provides valuable support to budding entrepreneurs.
Day services program- Versability offers a person-centered approach to activities and new learning experiences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our goal is to help people with disabilities reach their highest level of independence and community engagement. The people we serve participate in a range of volunteer activities and projects within the community, and participate in local recreational outings to parks, museums, and events. Early childhood- Versability's early prevention and intervention for children program assists infants and toddlers with disabilities ages 0 to 3 years old by tailoring therapy programs so each child is prepared for success in school, work, and life. Versability service coordinators asses a child's needs and coordinate tailor therapy to ensure each child reaches their full potential. Our family-based approach provides parents and caregivers with support and training in developmental milestones, parenting skills, and therapy techniques.
