Program areas at Veterans Navigation Network
1) resource Navigation is incredibly important for Veterans in transition out of the military. Finding the right person that can help the veteran to meet the need they have in a timely and compassionate manner is paramount to their success. Administrative red tape, broken processes, lack of knowledge, mental and physical health, and more can be barriers to Veterans finding the right resources to help them transition, and vnn proudly and effectively helps Veterans get the help they need with direct resource Navigation and mentorship. Veterans received help that varied between an hour and 10s of hours depending on their level of need. Hundreds of referrals were made for Veterans and their families to community partners to meet their various needs. 2) isolation is a key factor affecting Veterans as they transition out of the military, and reintegration into society is a key component of their success. Veterans Navigation Network served hundreds of Veterans and their families through our vet connect events and other veteran outreach activities, ensuring that they were not alone during their transition and had someone to walk by their side as they reintegrate. Many Veterans also began volunteering through vnn and other service organizations as a direct result of attending the events that vnn facilitated. 3) vnn attended dozens of community outreach events that assisted in getting information for success into the hands of Veterans and their families, covering events throughout the state of Montana. 4) we facilitated dozens of peer/mentee matches throughout the year with many volunteer peer mentors. These matches mean that hours are spent goal-setting and walking alongside the veteran as they work to achieve those goals. Goals can range from starting their own business, finding employment, finding housing, and so much more.
