Program areas at Victor Farmington Food Cupboard

The following events were run during the year; monthly round table, Q&Aabout the food cupboard at a recycling event at Victor High School held by the Robotics team, Cobblestone Charity Guide Holiday fundraiser to benefit the food cupboard, "Climb aboard event In Victor Q&A", Farmington Victor Kiwanis set up Santa Toy giveaway at the food cupboard, Scott Zahn Memorial Basketball Tournament to benefit the food cupboard,the Victor Farmington Library ran Books on Bed program in collaboration with food cupboard and provided emergency food services, and "Souper Bowl" food Drive.(Continued on Schedule O)We welcome local after school programs to learn about the impact that our food cupboard has on the community as well as several senior high school students to learn about the poverty cycle and how our role in the community provides assistance to those in need. We have local high school students come in every other Thursday from the life prep program to help learn new real life skills.The Victor Farmington Food Cupboard services individuals and families facing food insecurity through weekly appointments, emergency walk-ins and food deliveries to those who are in special need that are unable to come in and shop on their own due to both economic and health restrictions. In addition, the annual Thanksgiving and Christmas mass food distribution provided food on average to 600 families at over three locations. Food Cupboard customers were provided $10 Farm Market vouchers so that they may purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, local honey, and maple syrup during 2 weekly local farmers markets we attend. In addition to the holiday meal distributions we have successfully increased our availability by adding 40 additional appointments each week to meet the ever growing need.Victor Farmington Food Cupboard collected food for distribution. This includes; Victor Farmington Food Cupboard collected 900-1,500 pounds of Starbucks products weekly, bimonthly donations from Foodlink and 500 pounds of produce from a farm in Ontario County through the gleaning society, In addition, local Scouts, Victor Junior High school, school transportation department stuff the bus event and our own stomp out hunger food drive events held at the food cupboard.
