Volunteer Fire Department of Big Elk

This was the most expensive programs as we had two vehicles (brush trucks)that needed repairs. One of the trucks was a "hand me down- and required much more work than the Department anticipated. The second truck needed new tires and a check up. The volunteers were toned for one wildland Fire in a neighboring community. The lack of fires were supported by an almost permanent ban during the summer months on open camp fires at the camping areas around our community. The Department received a grant of 16,600 from the state for wildland equipment such as new sets of clothing and tools to fight wildland Fire.

The Department was toned for 27 medical events. There are two vehicles available to respond to these events. We have had some emergency supplies given to our Department which keeps our costs down.

The structure truck needed new tires. There was only one structure Fire. Two of our volunteers attended an advanced training relating to safety around working structure fires.

Costs included: miscellaneous supplies for all vehicles and radio repairs.
