Program areas at Wasatch Adaptive Sports
Summer programs Wasatch Adaptive Sports summer programs, including cycling, mountain biking, paddle boarding, kayaking, and yoga, provided 2,242 experiences to 498 unique individuals. The continued expansion and success of group cycling rides and programs with local community partners provided for 7-8% growth in experiences and individuals served over the year prior. 100% of students who responded to the end-of-season survey for the summer season reported that they had either partially or fully met their goals for the season, in addition to 100% rating their overall experience with was as good or excellent. Respondents also reported increases in self-esteem (97%), mental health (97%), and physical health (97%).
Winter programs Wasatch Adaptive Sports served 814 unique individuals with disabilities across all programs during fy23, a 15% increase over the prior year. Winter programs, including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, yoga, and indoor cycling, consisted of 1,920 experiences to 411 students; was maintained virtually no decrease in experiences provided despite a record snow year total of 900 inches that resulted in over 220 experiences being canceled outright due to weather. Responses to the student survey collected following the 2022-23 winter season showed that 97% of students fully or partially achieved their goals and reported improvements in their overall independence in recreation (94%), confidence (97%), overall mental health (92%), and overall quality of life (94%).
