Program areas at Washington Revels
Washington Revels stages celebrations filled with traditional music, dance, stories and drama from around the world, revolving around the cycle of the seasons and the joys of community connections. All events include substantial educational components. Performers include children, teens and adults. Annual events include the christmas Revels, a celebration of the winter solstice; spring celebrations; pub sings; parade performances; and monthly community sings and dances. Other programs include after-school workshops for kids, early childhood enrichment programs, outreach programs for low-income audiences, and dozens of programs by separate ensembles performing african-american, maritime, civil war-era and a cappella singing and spoken word, and professional actors portraying historic personages.
