Program areas at WTEF
Center for excellence: cfe is a comprehensive academic support and Tennis instruction program serving approximately 100 students in grades 1-12. Cfe runs 5 days a week from 4 to 7 p.m throughout the school year. Students receive 90 minutes of individualized math and reading instruction, homework completion assistance, and 90 minutes of Tennis instruction and play daily. Through a complimentary array of partnerships, cfe also offers stem enrichment, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, socio-emotional learning, character and cultural Education, and college prep and career counseling.
Summer program: serving up to 125 youth, runs 5 days a week for 8 hours a day for 9 weeks in the summer. Cfe summer provides math and reading enrichment, educationally enriching interactive game-based activities such as chess and board games, arts and crafts, free meals, and community-based partner presentations. In addition, students participate in skills-appropriate Tennis clinics and competitive play including access to local, regional and national tournaments. For example, participants may qualify to participate in the american Tennis association (ata) national Tennis tournament. Both cfe and cfe summer operate at the east capitol campus.
Tennis center programs: wtef offers beginner to advanced clinics for youth and adults. Our primary programming at our east campus is for youth who live within district of columbia underserved communities. We also offer fee-based programming at our east and west campuses where partial proceeds go towards funding youth programming at our east campus and our outreach programming at district of columbia public and charter schools.
