Program areas at Washoe County Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association
The shop with a sheriff program is an annual program that is funded by a combination of member dues and donations from the community. The program assists indigent children and their families in purchasing clothing, school supplies and gifts for themselves and their families. Participants are elected by social service agencies who are paired with agency employees and members of the Association in shopping on the night of the event.
On behalf of the Washoe County Sheriff's office, the Association utilized funds to enhance technology and computer labs at verdi elementary school, a school within the Washoe County school district. Funds donated directly to the elementary school were used to purchase computers and other technology for elementary school students.
The Association purchased a state of the art crime tracking software called cop link for the Washoe County Sheriff's office helping to enhance its law enforcecment capabilities.
