Program areas at Water For Life in Haiti
Well Services - WFL believes providing clean water is a wonderful way to show the love God to Haitians, and has drilled and maintained over 2,000 wells in southern Haiti since 1983. These wells allow for the basic needs of the Haitian people and healthy communities. Each well provides water for approximately 350 people. During the current year, WFL drilled approximately 62 new wells and provided maintenance for 637 wells.
Social Assistance Projects - WFL believes that providing aid in support of medical needs, education assistance, support of widows and children, and other miscellaneous financial needs that allow Haitians to advance themselves to support their family is a direct way of demonstrating the love of God. During the current year, WFL was able to assist numerous individuals in various social assistance projects.
School in Southern Haiti - WFL believes that providing education is a foundational and practical way of demonstrating the love of God. The school has several hundred students that attend daily classes. The school term operates from September through June each year and students are fed one nutritious meal each school day. Local Haitians are employed as administrators, teachers and other support staff.
Learning Center - The Learning Center became operational during the year. It is used as a meeting place for Haitian nationals in the Cayes area. The purpose of the center is to provide a place for community training including Biblical teaching and spiritural formation.
Irrigation Projects - WFL had six working irrigation projects as of period end. These wells are used to flood irrigate the land so that community residents can grow crops for food and to sell. During the reporting period, numerous Haitians were able to grow crops on the irrigated land.
