During the fiscal year 2023-24, the Watsonville Film Festival hosted two filmmakers workshops and a special screening. In the fall, we presented two large community events at our town square: Fiesta Mexicana in September and the 6th Annual Dia de Muertos Festival in October. Both events included in-person film screenings, live music and dance performances. Approximately 3,000 people participated. In March 2024, we hosted the 12th Annual Watsonville Film Festival featuring 50 films and 56 filmmakers. Inspired by the landmark film La Mission, we celebrated all things lowrider with a four-month exhibit and programming, including five panels, oral histories, car shows and film screenings totaling more than 33 live events and reaching 10,000 participants. We also continue to support local emerging filmmakers via grants, mentorship and network opportunities through the Cine Se Puede program.
