We Got Us Now

We Got Us Now released our 5-year impact & vision report, 10million children inspired: our answer to 50 years of mass incarceration and beyond, an educational resource, that highlights our "strengths-based approach" to addressing the issue of children and young adults impacted by parental incarceration. Over the past five years, We utilized digital narratives, lived experience, research, data, wellness and multimedia content and our efforts have yielded significant results that include, 6 policy wins at the local, state and federal levels, strategic partnerships in film, music, sports and tech, training and developing 25 directly impacted leaders into subject matter experts in our actionist leadership program, We Got Us Now podcast ranked top 10 podcast on mass incarceration in 2023, reuniting families, and credibility for producing qualitative data.one specific accomplishment from the release of our 2023 impact report, was our ability to call attention to isolation and loneliness and its impact on our population, and our recommended system accountability solutions that center on child well-being and building social connections that create better outcomes for children and young adults impacted by parental incarceration. This focus on well-being led Us to pilot an educational series across colleges and universities including yale law school, university of miami & u miami law school & uc berkeley law. The series was launched in fall 2023 and was an extremely successful way for Us to continue to build further awareness and amplify the issue of children with incarcerated parents with students, professors, administrators, community members and future leaders. This series was sponsored by our partners ascend at the aspen institute, nba foundation & sony music group.
