Program areas at Weakley County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Weakley co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local, state & national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring, communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & providing information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in the sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth leadership activities Weakley County Farm Bureau supports youth agirculture organizations both financially and with volunteer hours. The organization is a primary sponsor for the Weakley County 4-h and ffa organization. The Weakley County Farm Bureau sponsors an educational Farm day where about 300 elementary school children attend and get to tour a working Farm and learn how important agriculture is to everyday life.
Agriculture leadership activities the Weakley County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural, civic, & community organizations. Leaders attend district, state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications, and agricultural activities.
