Program areas at Weare Foundation
The WeAre Foundation is propagating an arts based philosophy of mutuality and interconnection by partnering directly with individuals and organizations on initiatives that address the needs of their communities. By creating access and amplifying work on issues like economics, education, criminal justice reform and socio-political responsibility, we're building bonds and ideologies that can remind us all, 'we are more similar than we are different'. Community: Create community focused initiatives that use the ethos of arts to bring forth growth and change. A number of committed community organizations are developing in challenged areas, but need a focal point to magnetize conversation and collaboration in driving consensus on solutions. WeAre will be that focal point, laying the groundwork and creating partnerships and bridges with these organizations. Knowledge: Deploy an educational arm to each initiative, focusing on topics like 'lost' history, access to whole foods, local political infrastructure, financial management and youth education and empowerment. While it is a cliche, knowledge is in fact power. And WeAre wants to empower communities with information to which they have traditionally been denied access. Without knowledge that leads to opportunity communities continue the cycles that generationally restrict their societal, economic and cultural growth.
