Program areas at WellBuilt Cities
Our Works of Mercy and Kinship Mobile Outreach program provided food, toiletries, clothes and the like to meet the needs of the community in various key locations throughout the Tampa Area. The organization distributed over 115,447 lbs of groceries to more than 6,941 neighbors at 20 distributions each month throughout the city. We partnered with other local organizations, churches, and residents for the volunteer teams that provide these services.
WellBuilt Cities is an incubator that exists to plant, grow, and support the many entities and programs that make up The Well's ecosystem. Be it leadership, coaching, financial analysis, graphics, or simply access to software and services, WellBuilt Cities is the program that helps create and sustain all of the other initiatives that make up the ecosystem we are developing.
Our WellBuilt Bikes social enterprise program celebrated its fifth year operating from a retail space. We are happy to report that we were able to get 536+ bikes out the door and provide over $15,433.60 in charitable distribution in '22 through EAB and SS repairs. We also hosted regular group rides and 6 interns from partner agencies working with re-entry and/or education transitions. The Earn-a-Bike program provided 30 bicycles to those who would otherwise not have reliable transportation in Tampa.
Housing program operated facility for formerly homeless men who work closely with the community. Org housed three men for the duration of the year and several more for shorter stays.
WellFed Community was developed as a program of the Well that seeks to utilize food education as a medium for building relationships. In practice, WellFed Community creates programming that emphasizes community, sustainability, and nutritional literacy through gardening, cooking classes, and aquaponic education. In its first year of operation, WellFed Community engaged over 1000 community residents across its active programming.
