Program areas at West African Development Support Organization

WADSO has an on going relationship with Revs. Luther and Christine Tarpeh and Transformation Intemational in Libereia West Africa Improving education in Liberia is one of their primary missions. Several years ago they started Best Brains Academy in Liberia which isa K-12 school. Best Brains Academy is one of the best schools in Liberia. It has received several awards and a visit fromthe President of Liberia. As students have graduated ‘from Best Brains Academy there was no where in Liberia for them to continue their ‘education at'a quality Univerisity or College. Revs, Luther and Christine Tarpeh through Tranformation international wanted to start” ‘Best Brains Univeresity to fill this void and provide their students with the opportunity to get 2 quality college education. WADSO feceived a donation from a donor in the United States to fund the purchase of land for Best Brains University. These funds were ‘Teceived by WADSU trom the National Christian Foundalion in the amount of $200,000.00. These funds were wired to Liberia for this Jand purchase on November 29, 2017. The land has been purchased and progress is being made to create Best Brains University
Funding for | the Peanut Butter House. In approximately, 2005 a group from First Presbyterian church in Fort Collins started a project build a small plant to make enriched peanut bulter to fight malnutrition. The entiched peanut butter is an RUTF (ReadytoUse ‘Therauputic Food) The plant was placed in Liberia outside Monrovia on land owned by Revs. Luther and Chirstine Tarpeh. The plant which we call “The Peanut Butter House” produces approximately 1,000 packets of enriched peanut butter each month. The packets are distributed to mothers of children suffering from mainutirtion at three feeding centers. The children are weighed and examined ‘to insure they are making progress. The cost to produce a packel is aboul $1.00. The $12,000.00 grant was approved by the WADSO ‘board to provide funding for the Peanut Butter House for a year. Funds were sent over approximately every two months
Funding for the FANOL bank at Faith Alive, the sewing machine project and purchase of school items. Faith Alive is a Faith based ‘Organization operating in Nigeria. WADSO has supported the mission work fo Faith Alive for several years. This grant supported ‘Several projects at Faith Alive. $2,000 went to the Faith Alive Necessities of Life (FANOL) bank. The FANOL bank operates like a Food Bank where people in need can get food and other necessities of life. $2,500.00 was Sent to support a project where women leam ‘Sew as a Skill to make clother to earn a living. these funds purchasc supplics for this on going project. Finally, the remaining went to purchase school materials for the children at the Faith Alive Schoo
