Cultural enrichment progams: at the beginning of each school year the PTA asks parents for a minimum donation to fund the PTA services. The annual ask provides funding for assemblies, field trips, the artist in residence program, library books, classroom media, fifth grade activities, teacher aides, and miscellaneous other expenses. Cultural enrichment also includes overnight trip to islandwood (nature and science program)
Publication and distribution of the school directory to every member (approximately 600); printing and distribution of parent packets to every student on the first day of school (approx. 600); funding for the annual orientation open house, curriculum night, and fall & spring open house; funding for parent education classes and seminars; funding of the emergency preparedness program. Reading & music program: to encourage reading, the PTA provides great books program for grades two through five, and sponsors a birthday book program to supplement the school library on an ongoing basis. Approximately 80% of the students in grades two through five participate in great books; the teachers are highly supportive of the program. In addition to the participation in great books, students have the opportunity to be involved in technology and the fine arts showcase.
