Program areas at West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum
Circular and Decarbonized Economy: The Forum is a support network that supports businesses and institutions throughout the state. This network advances the adoption of decarbonization through industry engagement and partnerships, including industry roundtables, resource development, benchmark reports, educational campaigns, peer learning and the development of collaborative opportunities and initiatives.
MICHIGAN SUSTAINABILITY FORUMS The Forums are educational and networking programs for sustainability professionals and other stakeholders in Michigan and regional markets. Members are supported by events, digital media, special campaigns, research initiatives, resource development, staff experts and a rotating portfolio of committees, task forces and round tables organized around strategic interests. Through these programs, we create value for businesses, institutions and their employees and students.
EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY - Sustainable business has a responsibility to work alongside under-resourced populations and communities of color to address historical disparate impacts affecting members of these communities due to public policy or market-based actions. We are highlighting the potential role of the business community as advocates for business practices and civic priorities that advance social and environmental justice. We are engaging businesses in an active process to identify and eliminate racism, while working to decrease barriers to participation in sustainability for diverse groups. The Equity Program has become a signature initiative of the modern SBF, regarded as a model for white-led organizations in the states sustainability movement.
