Program areas at Westerlies Music
The Westerlies independently released two albums, performed over 75 concerts and workshops, and reached over one million listeners around the world through streaming services. The ensemble continued their dedication to music education as small-ensemble-in-residence at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music of The New School in New York, NY, in addition to presenting workshops and masterclasses at Carnegie Hall (New York, NY), University of Wyoming (Laramie, WY), University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS), The Bermuda Festival (Hamilton, Bermuda), University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT), Virginia Arts Festival (Norfolk, VA), and Middlebury College (Middlebury, VT). In June of 2023, the organization presented its fifth annual "Westerlies Fest," in Seattle, Washington, presenting three nights of music featuring vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles, pianist Jarrett Cherner, composer Jahnvi Madan, and Wayne Horvitz's Gravitas Quartet. The ensemble also toured with band Fleet Foxes on their Shore tour, performing in 40 cities across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
