Program areas at Western Carolina Medical Society Foundation
During 2022, Project Access (PA) program, provided donated services to 2,327 patients. Our network has 700 physicians and providers. We served a total of 521 new patients. PA has promoted healthcare access with equity and inclusion, providing services to BIPOLC population. Our current applications are printed in languages such as English, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian including the social determinants of health questionnaire for all our referred patients. A total of 269 patients were referred to resources in the community for transportation, food, utilities, insurance assistance, housing and legal assistance. We registered referrals for Durable Medical Equipment for 5 patients.
During 2022, WCMS Interpreter Network (WIN) scheduled 5,065 appointments. We provided a total of 4,312 interpreting services, with 765 for American Sign Language (ASL) and 3,547 for Foreign Languages. Cancellations or unfulfilled jobs totaled 753. We served four Covid vaccine events organized by Buncombe County and YMCA as well as four community events organized by WNC-CRCSI and the Mexican Consulate.
