Program areas at Wetsembekile Ministries
Community Center Projects & Programs: During 2022, Wetsembekile Ministries maintained facilities and wells at 3 community centers, drilling a well at the third one early in the year. This provides clean drinking water onsite for over 300 orphaned and vulnerable children and surrounding community members. Because of storms, 2 of the solar panels for the wells had to be replaced. Wetsembekile Ministries staff and volunteers hosted fun days and weekly programs at the community centers to help children grow in being more physically, relationally, emotionally and spiritually healthy. Wetsembekile provided basic hygiene supplies to over 300 children throughout 2022.
Community Center food: In 2022, Wetsembekile Ministries provided food for local Swazi volunteers to cook six days a week at 3 community centers. Primarilary they were cooking breakfast for preschool aged children, and then lunch for preschool through high school aged children. Many of these children are orphaned and vulnerable, and this is their main meal each day. Approximately 300 children are served, adding up to 2,175 meals served per week, 52 weeks per year.
Benevolence and Community Outreach: In 2022, Wetsembekile Ministries continued to provide food, housing and basic household improvements for people with no or severly inadequate housing, funds for medical help, and assistance in paying for transportation, uniforms and fees for school for struggling people in the community, including child-led homesteads. Homes were built for a single mother of 4 children and an elderly man with no family. The three wells and the water distribution systems established in prior years continue to provide clean water to over 250 homesteads. A food distribution was done in December to provide 260 homesteads with a few weeks worth of food.
