Program areas at Wichita Habitat for Humanity
1. We had 16 families work alongside volunteers to build safe, affordable homes they purchased on zero percent interest mortgages. Through our homeownership program, these families - which include 30 children - achieved stability and independence. New construction was concentrated in the area in northeast Wichita marked by blight, making use of existing infrastructure and supporting community revitalization. In addition, we partnered with 31 qualified families and offered home repair services throughout sedgwick county so homeowners can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come.2. Wichita Habitat for Humanity empowered local families and individuals by offering comprehensive support in the pursuit of homeownership. Through providing expert guidance on budgeting, credit repair, debt reduction, and home retention, we enabled our family partners with financial control. In addition, our educational classes were open to the public to empower all families in our community. We offered over 35 free educational classes and were attended by 767 people. Our general homebuyer informational meetings were attended by 210 people in search of more affordable housing options in sedgwick county.
