The wai program is designed to increase self-esteem, self-confidence and trust and lessen the dependence on alcohol and other drugs and/or modify and improve self-destructive behaviors of the individuals to whom grants are given which can only be used in payment for Wilderness therapy programs offered by other established entities. To provide and facilitate the delivery of quality, Wilderness and adventure based, holistic, therapeutic programs for adolescents and young adults who are addicted to chemical substances, at-risk of becoming addicted or who have behavioral and medical problems.
