Program areas at Williamson County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Williamson co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local, state & national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in the sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth leadership development Williamson County Farm Bureau supports youth agriculture organizations both financially and with volunteer hours. The organization is a primary sponsor of the Williamson County ffa and 4-h banquet at an area high school. The wcfb also sponsors a Farm day at a local Farm where elementary school children learn the importance of farming and where their food and fiber comes from. The Williamson County Farm Bureau sponsors a little ones Farm at the Williamson County fair, this is a booth where kids can have an interactive experience with farming and agriculture.
Agriculture leadership activities the Williamson County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural, civic, & community organizations. Leaders attend district, state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications, and agricultural activities.
