Program areas at Wilmington Community Television
Wctv live broadcasts all selectboard, school committee, finance committee, annual and special related meetings throughout the year. These meetings are live broadcast on our verizon and comcast channels, and also streamed online, and also rebroadcast and archived. Wctv must set-up broadcast equipment, microphones, etc., and break them down before and after each meeting. Wctv does not receive payment for any municipal meeting coverage, but it is a stipulation and condition for receiving franchise fees our funding from verizon and comcast through the town of Wilmington.
Wctv spent hundreds of hours producing content covering the Wilmington public school system outside of the under the lights series. This included broadcasting girls and boys soccer, hockey and basketball games. Wctv created a mini-series chronicling the season of boys basketball, hockey and baseball. Wctv also created highlight videos of the aforementioned sports along with student profiles, human interest stories and a documentary of Wilmington hiigh schools musical. This programing helped fulfill wctvs requirement for high school and youth programming as a condition for receiving franchise fees our funding from verizon and comcast.
Under the lights is wctvs flagship program which just concluded its second season of airing. The program is a full, multi-camera, inside the huddle style documentary series chronicling the wilimington high school football team, band and cheerleaders. The season was comprised of nine episodes and involved hundreds of hours of shooting, and editing the series, along with live broadcasts of all of the home high school football games. The final three episodes were premiered at the showcase cinema de lux woburn. Under the lights helped fulfill wctvs requirement for high school and youth programming as a condition for receiving franchise fees our funding from verizon and comcast.
