Program areas at Wilshire Community Services
Senior Services offers empathetic listening and guidance by professionally trained volunteer counselors who help seniors navigate the ups and downs of grief, loss, depression and other life changes.
The good neighbor program is a grassroots effort to bridge gaps in safety-net Services for seniors and adults with disabilities. Volunteers donate their time and talent to provide Services that meet essential needs that are currently unfilled by other programs or Services. Examples of such Services include transportation, minor home repair, light housework, yard work, and meal preparation.
Creative mediation Services provides mediation Services, facilitation Services and training Services. These Services include all sectors of the Community.
Loan closet is a free Community resource that loans medical equipment to those in need. Basic medical devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs and bathroom safety equipment is commonly used for brief periods of time after an injury, surgery or similar circumstance and can be more expensive than families can afford. The Wilshire loan closet makes this equipment available to borrow when it is needed.
