Program areas at Windemere Long Term Care LLC
Windemere Long Term Care, LLC, in coordination with its parent organization, govans ecumenical development corporation (gedco), opened the harry and jeanette weinberg green house residences at stadium place. Gedco moved into its new offices on the terrace level in march 2012. Acc green house residences, a subsidary of catholic charities, began operations of the green house residences at stadium place on april 12, 2012. This is the first in the state of Maryland of the new green house model of resident directed long-term Care. The green house model creates homes that provide an interntional community supporting the most positive elderhood and work life possible. To acheive these goals, the model fundamentally transforms the philosophy of Care, the architecture, and the organizational structure that exists in traditional long-term Care organizations. It combines small homes with the full range of personal Care and clinical services expected in high quality nursing homes. Elders are encouraged to live as independently as possible, and they set their own daily routines. Up to 49 older adults will live in the building at one time and continue to live meaningful lives, while receiving support and nursing care.the first floor of the green house residences is designated as the short-term Care floor, and they second, third and fourth floors or residences provide lont-term Care for frail elders who need skilled nursing Care. Each floor or residence contains twelve private bedrooms with private bathrooms, arranged around a large common area called "the hearth", which includes a kitchen (where fresh, hearty meals are cooked throughout the day), a living room with a fireplace, and a dining room where the elders and staff eat together. The green house model makes the older adults, rather than staff, the center of the home, allowing residents to age with dignity and in a community of their choice. Elders participate in planning activities and thier own schedules. Catholic charities is fully responsible for the operation of the green house residences, in accordance with a lease agreement with Windemere Long Term Care.
