Program areas at Windsor Educational Foundation
Windsor Educational Foundation provides three different types of grants to schools and educators: Grants to Educators are designed for a project that is being implemented to serve a classroom, club, or small subset of students by a single WUSD staff member: School Site Grants are designed for projects benefiting the whole campus or a significant cross-section of students, such as a grade level: and finally District Grants (multiple campus) are designed to encourage collaboration throughout the district. It is appropriate for use by two or more campuses that choose to work together to benefit students on each participating campus.
The WE Foundation has been honored to award many scholarships over the past several years to deserving seniors in the Windsor Unified School District who continued their education after high school graduation. In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, the scholarship program was redesigned as part of a mentorship program tied to a WHS student's senior project. The scholarship committee looks for students who have an education goal beyond high school. This can be a four year college, junior college or career college. The committee also considers as a major factor in the selection process any obstacles or difficulties the applicants have overcome in their high school years or prior. In this last fiscal year the WE Foundation paid to outstanding students all five of the $1,000 scholarships awarded in April 2016, and one of the twenty $1,000 scholarships awarded in April 2017!
