Program areas at Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control
Risk report: produced six bimonthly issues of the risk report, a database tracking the spread of technologies used to make weapons of mass destruction. The database contains unclassified profiles of entities linked to the spread of these sensitive technologies, descriptions of the technologies, and information on how they are controlled. Maintained a web based version of the risk report, updated every four weeks. Trained foreign government officials involved in strategic trade controls on how to use the database as part of a u.s. government foreign assistance program. Provided risk report access to hundreds of foreign government officials.
Sanctions impact: developed a website that provides background information on the proliferation and related threats posed by iran and north korea, on sectors in both countries targeted by u.s. and multilateral sanctions, and on the sanctions regimes themselves. The website is built using open sources and includes profiles of key entities of concern in both countries and related network maps and data files. Trained foreign government officials on using the site to support sanctions implementation as part of a u.s. government foreign assistance program.
Iran watch: maintained iran watch, a publicly available web site devoted to monitoring iran's ability to develop unconventional weapons. Published reports, op-eds, and descriptions of entities linked to proliferation in iran on the web site. Held roundtable discussions with iran experts and published consensus findings from these discussions.
Research and education: answered public requests for information about weapons proliferation, and made reports, testimony, and other written products publicly available on free of charge web sites.
