Program areas at Womanspace
Provide 24/7/365 emergency services to assist families in crisis who are victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Services include emergency shelters for victims and their children; two crisis hotlines for both domestic violence and sexual assault; individual and group counseling provided by professionals with an expertise in the area of interpersonal violence; and family court advocacy for victims who are seeking a final restraining order. Also operate the statewide domestic violence hotline (see other programs listed on schedule o). All services are available in spanish.
Transitional housing program provides two levels of transitional housing for survivors of domestic violence and their children, supporting the families in developing a new level of independence away from the abuse. The program is highly goal-oriented, encouraging self-sufficiency for the family through the attainment of financial, educational and permanent housing goals. Barbara's house is a post-shelter three to six month program, and next step is a one to two year transitional housing program. All services are available in spanish.
Sexual assault support services - provides emergency accompaniment to the hospital at the time of a sexual assault, group and individual counseling and prevention groups in middle and high schools. All services are available in spanish.
Statewide hotline - information and referral hotline available 24/7 serving the state of nj 1-800-572-safe.education and training - provides training and workshops to professionals, community groups and civic groups. Provides 80-hour training and supervision to domestic violence response team members who respond 24/7 to the police department and support victims and their children with counseling and referral information.outreach - provides for the dissemination of information about Womanspace and our services, helps to build awareness in the community, recruits volunteers to assist in the work of the mission and improves accessibility to all victims and survivors who need Womanspace services.all services are available in spanish.
