ONLINE RESOURCES: WomenArts provides a variety of free online services designed to increase the opportunities & visibility of women artists. Our volunteers maintain a website with hundreds of pages of educational information for women artists, articles about inspiring women artists around the world, and links to research studies and funding information. We collaborate with the Women in the Arts and Media Coalition in New York to produce monthly newsletters listing funding deadlines and other opportunities for women artists in theater, film and video. WomenArts provided $10,000 to Women in the Arts & Media Coalition this year to support the funding newsletters.
ARTIST PROJECTS - We are collaborating with White Snake Projects in Boston to develop and produce a new opera by Mary D. Watkins about civil rights activist, Fannie Lou Hamer. WomenArts had raised $18,621 for this project in previous years which we were holding as restricted funds. We transferred the restricted funds we were holding for this opera to White Snake Projects during 2022-23 to use towards its workshop of the opera in February 2024 and the fully-staged production in September 2024. This transfer of restricted funds is reflected in our Reconciliation of Net Assets, Part XI, line 9.
COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER NON-PROFITS: We collaborate with other non-profits on an annual international celebration of women artists in all art forms called Support Women Artists Now Day or SWAN Day for short, which takes place during March (Women's History Month). During 2022-23 we provided funds we had raised to 4 non-profit women-led arts groups that organized SWAN events. We also collaborated with WAM Theatre, a 501 (c ) (c ) non-profit in Lenox, MA, which is dedicated to presenting works written and directed by women.
