Program areas at Women's Campaign International
Mission and program clarity:wci restructured its efforts into four programmatic pillars to help focus and streamline our initiatives. These program pillars include entrepreneurship, public advocacy, public health, and International relief. Under our entrepreneurship pillar, wci seeks to empower girls and women to promote future female business leaders and an inclusive economic growth in economies around the world. Further, wci provides training in skills development centered around providing women and girls with the leadership and advocacy tools they need to thrive as business leaders. Training areas include, but are not limited to, economic and digital literacy, leadership and empowerment, effective communication, and business-specific skills.our public advocacy pillar focuses on wci advocating and supporting on behalf of girls and women around the world to bring about change on a local, state, or federal level. Wci trains women and girls in the skills they need to actively participate in all areas of political processes. In addition, wci participates in International coalitions and legislative processes to ensure we are at the forefront of political issues in the us and abroad. Starting with our younger participants, wci has been committed to ensuring every girl knows her voice is important no matter her age or status and encourages them to become involved in civic engagement activities like voting, advocating for change about issues they are passionate about, andvolunteering in their communities.under our public health pillar, wci collaborates with experts across academic, governmental, nonprofit and philanthropic communities to educate girls and women on topics associated with Women's health. Wci recognizes the importance of addressing the individual as a whole and creates public health programming that trains women and girls to address the physical, mental, and emotional health of the individuals they are serving. These trainings educate women and girls on the necessary medical information they need to advocate for their own health and the health of others. In addition, public health training includes effective communication workshops to ensure participants are equipped with the tools they need to share critical information with their communities.our International relief pillar involves wci investing in girls and women survivors of war, conflict, and natural disasters providing them with social and economic support. Wci works with local partners on the ground to address the immediate needs of women and girls in times of crisis, including, but not limited to, needs associated with war and International conflict, natural and man-made disasters, and reintegration of women and girls into society in the wake of these issues.community engagement:wci incorporates youth voices into every aspect of our programming, and moving forward, wci is committed to including youth voices in all aspects of our organization's activities. Throughout all programming, participants are asked to complete surveys in order for our staff to make adjustments to the program to better serve our participants. Participants are also encouraged to share their thoughts with program staff through one-on-one interviews after program sessions.in addition, program alumni have the opportunity to co-lead a workshop on a topic of their choice with the help of the program facilitator. Current gals alumni have facilitated workshops on topics such as poetry, drawing, mental health advocacy, goal-setting, and the importance of self-care. Program alumni and other interested high school students will also have the option of interning with wci through roles as social media content creators, program curriculum consultants, and more.gals alumni, specifically, have the opportunity to join wci's gals working group. The working group meets quarterly to help wci gain insight about how to better support the needs and interests of current participants. This includes playing an active role in helping wci to modify our curriculum based on their feedback. Members of the gals working group are also invited to speak at wci's board meetings and play an active role in selecting guest speakers for future gals sessions.further, wci is committed to working with program alumni, in coordination with each partnering school, to develop and launch a permanent advocacy club within each partnering institution. Advocacy clubs will create permanent spaces within each partnering school where interested students can work with program alumni and wci staff to expand upon and continue their advocacy efforts. Also, through online alumni networks, wci will continue to track the progress of program alumni over time and connect past participants with one another. Wci has already partnered with swenson arts & technology high school and successfully supported the creation of a public health advocacy club.as highlighted above, wci's organizational capacity will more effectively utilize board members, staff, interns, volunteers and youth voices at all levels of the organization. Wci's board members will be more regularly engaged and more consistently informed about wci and its programs through organized board training. The organization will continue to develop and utilize standardized administrative procedures in place, specifically geared towards finances, donor relations, board and staff engagement, and security, as well as the systematization of the staff turnover process.
