I. Events and Conferences organized by WFWPI:1. March - May 2022 3-month Spring Awakening Campaign: Action Towards New Beginnings was conducted. Started with a 3- day virtual Health and Wellness program from March 9-11, 2022, six online forums were conducted exploring the topics of peace, well-being and the environment. It featured wellness activities such as yoga, sustainable fashion and healthy cooking. WFWPI aimed to cultivate a sense of community and collective action towards healing the Earth and empowering women, while raising funds for the office which collectively raised $4,037.11. 2. March 21, 2022 66th Session of the Commission on the Status Women Parallel Event - WFWPI and WFWP Korea co-organized a Virtual Parallel Event, "Building Bridges: Fostering Mutual Empowerment Through Environmental Healing." Through storytelling and interactive dialogue. 3. May 13 December 20, 2022 Permaculture Literacy and Education Program WFWPI funded a 6-month literacy and project implementation training in partnership with WFWP Philippines. Twelve permaculture project managers participated in the 6-month program.4. July 7, 2022 High Level Political Forum 2022 (HLPF) Virtual Side Event WFWPI collaborated with the World Council for Psychotherapy and the International Association of Applied Psychology in hosting a virtual Side Event during the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2022 in hostin a Side Event entitled "Permaculture: A Universal, Hopeful Practice for Building Back Better." The program featured perspectives from expert permaculture practitioners, community leaders, educators and government leaders. These special speakers engaged in a roundtable discussion, where they identified practical solutions and successful practices and encouraged the creation and implementation of policies that support resilience and partnerships toward the well-being of people and the healing of the planet. 5. July 17 - August 7, 2022 The Second annual Giving For Good fundraising campaign on the theme: "Healing Our Home, Our Shared Calling" was conducted. This included an online auction, consisting of new or gently used items from Mother Moon's closet as well as from the closets of GFGI Founder, Dr. Sun Jin Moon. Original art pieces from Un Jin Moon and Jan Parker and items from several beauty queens. In addition, two meet-and-greets as well as a fundraising event hosted by Ms. Abby Cruz, Miss Philippines 2007 runner up, were held. A total of $7,355.73 was raised from the auction and event. Proceeds will go to fund WFWPI climate action projects around the world.6. August 4-8, 2022 - Young Leaders Retreat The Office for UN Relations in New York held an international Young Leaders Retreat in Barrytown, New York, from August 4 to 8 under the theme of "Spread Your Wings: Using your gift to transform the world." A total of 15 young women from 11 different countries participated in this impactful program. 7. August 19 - November 15, 2022 - Activate 2022 Leadership Training - WFWPI in conjunction with the Global Development Enterprise / NGO Academy, conducted a 3-month virtual leadership training program. The project was managed by Musu Bakoto Sawo, a WFWPI Intern and a Masters Student of Kroc Institute of the University of Notre Dame. The aim was to equip WFWP leaders with a forward-looking approach to identify opportunities for growth, effectively implement and manage sustainable and impactful projects. A total of 10 participants joined the leadership training program and received a scholarship from WFWPI with a value of $1,000 each. The training culminated with a "Pitch Fest" in which participants presented their projects to a panel of judges. The top three winners were presentations on a.) "Permaculture Education Program" , "Learning Is Fun, not just for one but for every Juan", and "Interfaith Peace Village." 8. January - December 2022 - WFWPI provided financial support and collaborated with the Universal Peace Federation through the International Association of First Ladies for Peace (IAFLP)'s initiatives for the promotion of peace among nations through regional and international dialogue, high level meetings, as well as networking among global women leaders and first ladies. The WFWPI and IAFLP collaboration was led by Alexa Ward and Cindy Pfeiffer.9. October 28, 2022 - UN Dream 2022 WFWPI and WFWP Africa co-organized a virtual forum on the theme of child brides, titled "The UN Dream: Creating an environment where girls can be girls, not brides." This forum was created to bring together various members of civil society to find impactful and sustainable solutions to address the problems of child marriage. Three African young women leaders from Kenya, Senegal, and Uganda were awarded by WFWPI the "Global Women Peace Award" recognizing their outstanding leadership in the areas of climate adaptation, health and well-being.II. Publications and Statements:1. WFWPI Offices for UN Relations Geneva and New York jointly published four issues of the UN Newsletter in 2022 (Issues 43 - 46) under the leadership of Carolyn Handschin. 2. Art Book "Peace, Women & Environment: Action Toward New Beginnings," WFWPI designed WFWPI's first ever art book which featured WFWPI UN-Office NY's areas of focus and stories from the Giving For Good climate action projects. The book raised funds through sponsorships, totaling $23,308.55. The proceeds from this campaign funded two leadership programs: the Young Leaders Retreat and Activate Leadership Training 2022.3. Produced 4 episodes of "Merly's World: Regenerative Living," a quarterly online show on environmental education and climate adaptation awareness, hosted by Merly Barlaan. 4. Collaborated with WFWPI Office for UN Relations in Geneva in drafting a Statement on the Human Right to a Clean and Healthy Environment (August 2022).5. WFWPI Intern, Ms. Amber Le Fevre, produced research materials on "National Climate Adaptation Initiatives and WFWPI's Environmental Projects" in the following countries: Albania, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nepal, Palau, Paraguay, South Africa, Philippines, and Zambia.6. Submitted a Statement to ECOSOC for CSW67, E/CN.6/2023/NGO/126 5 December 2022 - "Partnership in equipping women and girls with technological resilience, and protecting them from abuse and violence through the misuse of technology." September 23, 2022- Merly Barlaan, Alexa Ward, Dr. Rima Salah, Doris Salah, Madame Therese Tommo, Ranjit Jayanti, and Susan O'mally attended the 109th Annual First Ladies Luncheon organized by the Congressional Club Washington, DC. 2. October 17, 2022 Merly Barlaan and 2 WFWPI-UN Office interns, Ms. Musu Bakoto Sawo (Gambia) and Ms. Anaya Galibdin (Portugal) attended the Celebration of Women Diplomats hosted by the Women Foreign Policy Group in New York City.3. December 13-14, 2023 - Merly Barlaan participated as a resource speaker at the - 3rd International Congress of AFAMMER (Asociacin de Familias y Mujeres del Medio Rural), Madrid, Spain. Mrs. Barlaan delivered a presented on "Rural Women's Leadership in Creating Partnership in the 21st Century Society."
