Program areas at Women's Ordination Conference

Educational outreach: woc regularly publishes and shares advocacy and educational resources for activists and members to enable local organizing and community building among our grassroots networks. Toolkits, media training and messaging, blog posts, and social media tools are widely dispersed. This year we created a video series to help educate members on women in ministry, as well as hosted a virtual retreat, and offered several townhall listening sessions for our members. Our newsletter, new women new church, is published twice a year. Each issue is distributed to more our members, donors, and subscribers. The newsletter contains information relevant to the issue of Women's Ordination into an inclusive and accountable catholic church. It informs readers about resources available to them and regional events across the country in which they can participate and support. We also host regular virtual educational and awareness building events, including this year, a multi- series listening sessions.
Programs and coalitions: in collaboration with other catholic reform organizations, woc is able to amplify our mission for Women's equality through projects, events and partnerships. Woc is a longtime and active member of the forum, "catholic organizations for renewal," which brings together a diverse group of organizations and volunteers to educate, share resources, and collaborate on projects when appropriate. Woc is also an active member of women-church convergence, supporting their annual meeting and activities, as well as publishing frequent statements on social justice issues with a feminist lens. Lastly, woc is a founding organization and leader in the international "women's Ordination worldwide" (wow), a network of 16 countries working for Women's Ordination. Wow holds annual gatherings and prayerful witnesses and creates prayer and organizing resources. This year we hosted virtual conversations, in person witnesses, and coordinated media calls as we monitor the situation in the church.
Three ministries: the projects of woc's three ministries are the central focus of the organization. The ministry of irritation works to raise awareness about Women's Ordination with public advocacy, such as prayerful demonstrations at major catholics events, letter and petition deliveries, and using the media and social media to amplify our message. The ministry of walking with women called continues to build and coordinate the national network of support. We continue to offer a scholarship to support students studying to be ordained ministers at catholic institutions, this year four women were awarded. The ministry of prophetic obedience provides ongoing support at ordinations for women called to serve as priests and bishops.
