Program areas at Women's Resource Center in Durango
Resource and referral: this program is the core of our work. Women are connected to resources in the community that will help them overcome personal, financial and emotional hurdles. in 2022 we provided 1291 clients with 1729 individual services.
Education: the educational opportunity scholarship provides financial assistance to women looking to improve their employability and skills through certified training, accreditation or college classes. in 2022, 10 awards were handed out totaling over 8,000.
Professional development coaching, small business consultation, low bono, womenade: the professional development coaching program connects women with a one- on-one coaching opportunity to help them set personal, career and/or business goals. We continue to partner with the small business development Center who provide free, one-hour consultations with a business expert for women looking to launch a small business or grow an existing venture. The low bono program connects clients with a lawyer for a one-hour legal consultation in matters of family law, primarily divorce or custody. The womenade program helps normally self-sufficient individuals overcome unexpected financial hardship with a one-time grant of up to 500.
Youth programming: through the get your girl power program, we served 50 5th grade girls on topics such as healthy relationships, advocacy, anti-bullying and positive self-image.
