Program areas at Womens Resource Center in Durango
Resource and Referral- This program is the core of WRCs work. Women are connected to the resources in the community that will help them overcome, personal, financial and emotional hurdles. In 2023 we provided 1,304 clients with 1,770 individual services.
Scholarship and Education- The Educational Opportunity Scholarship provies financial assistance to women looking to improve thier employability and skills through certified training, accrediation or college classes. In 2023 16 awards were handed out totaling over $14,000
Professional Development, Coaching, Small Business Consultation, Low-Bono and Womenade are a series of programs and services provided to individuals in our community naviagte lifes hurdles on the path to self sufficiency. Professional development coaching provides women with one-on-one coaching opportunities to help women set peronal, career and/or business goals. We conitnue to partner with the Small Business Development Center who provide free, one hour consulatiaons with a busienss expert for women looking to launch a small business or grow an existing venture. The Low Bono program connects clients with an attorney for a one hour legal consulations in matters of family law, divorce and custody. Local law offices donated $7,900 of services to WRC to support this program. Womenade helps normally self-sufficient individuals overcome unexpected financial hardship with one time grants up to $700
Youth Programming- Through the Get Your Girl Power program, we served 55 5th grade girls on topics such as healthy relationships, advocacy, anti-bullying and positive self-image.
