Program areas at Stand Strong / Lumina Alliance
Covering client services, therapy and prevention, staff work with community members, youth, and schools throughout the county to address the systemic causes of sexual and intimate partner violence using evidence-based curricula. Programs are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and centered around youth empowerment, community mobilization, cultural norms shifting, and equity.
Our legal services department offers services and referrals for domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence survivors. We also provide survivors with a trained, dedicated advocate to help them obtain court-ordered safety through a temporary restraining order (tro). Lumina Alliance staff and volunteers are available to support and accompany survivors to medical exams, law enforcement interviews/meetings, court hearings, and more.
Our client-centered transitional housing programs provide transitional housing and shelters for individuals and families who are unsheltered or in need of housing as a result of fleeing intimate partner/domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. The 6- to 24-month program provides support services to survivors using a client empowerment model. There are 10 transitional housing units located in san luis obispo and grover beach that house survivors and their families for up to 24 months. Transitional housing residents are offered empowerment-focused advocacy, legal services, case management, and therapy.
