Program areas at Woodlands Wildlife Refuge
Woodlands Wildlife Refuge received and cared for 1,696 orphaned or injured native wild animals of 54 species from 16 counties and accomplished a high release rate. In addition to our small staff, 35 volunteers and 10 unpaid interns provided care for the animals. Approximately 12,094 volunteer hours with a value of 362,215 and 4,145 intern hours with a value of 124,143, were worked during the year.
Woodlands Wildlife Refuge sold "broke leg bear" books, which is an educational children's book. It tells the true story of an injured bear cub that Woodlands rehabilitated and successfully released back into the wild.
Woodlands Wildlife Refuge presented 12 educational programs to volunteers, schools, corporations and various other groups. We also responded to approximately 3,133 telephone calls relating to Wildlife questions and concerns from residents of 16 counties.
