Human Security Project addresses all the critical issues confronting the world today, including peace, human rights, inequality, health, food, education, jobs, safe communities and personal safety, energy, pollution, biodiversity and, climate change. It supports all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals which 193 countries have already approved and rallied around. Human Security is a broad conceptual approach applicable to all areas of development policy. Such an integrated approach can accelerate positive saction to address threat such as pandemics and climate change, to coordinate and accelerate the implementation of the SDGs, and to enhance multilateral cooperation.

IYSBSSD was to mobilize national, regional, and global scientific institutions to clearly demonstrate to the public and especially to political and business leaders worldwide how basic sciences are helping us to establish an inclusive, balanced, and sustainable development of the planet. The main message of the series of events is that basic research is the important initial link in the chain of research and development that can, only as a whole, make nature and society sustainable
