Program areas at World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology
Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology journal: the wfumb publishes original peer-reviewed manuscripts on significant novel advances in clinical diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic applications, as well as new and improved clinical techniques. The journal also covers the physics, engineering, and technology of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, along with the interactions between Ultrasound and biological systems, including bioeffects. Extended critical reviews of subjects of contemporary interest in the field are also published, in addition to occasional editorial articles, clinical and technical notes, book reviews, letters to the editor, and a calendar of forthcoming meetings. It is the aim of the journal to meet the information and publication requirements of the clinicians, scientists, engineers, and other professionals who constitute the biomedical ultrasonic community.wfumb Ultrasound open is the official international peer-reviewed open access journal of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (wfumb). As the "sister journal" of Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, it shall focus particularly on the clinical applications of Ultrasound. in addition, it aims to publish and disseminate novel research in basic and applied science. It will also welcome papers on advances in diagnostic and therapeutic applications of Ultrasound, guidelines, pictorial reviews, clinical cases, letters and opinion pieces.to complement wfumb's multidisciplinary organisation the journal invites topics on all organs of medical imaging such as gastrointestinal, genitourinary, obstetrics and gynaecology, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, head and neck, nervous system and breast. The journal aims to advance our understanding of the applications of Ultrasound in Medicine and science. The journal is not restricted with inclusion of images and videos in the proposed format.
Education programs: wfumb has accredited several international centers of education. Through the efforts of local Ultrasound societies, these centers offer accredited medical Ultrasound education programs in developing countries, thereby increasing the local society's expertise in education. As part of the program, wfumb provides qualified visiting professors to enhance these educational experiences. Centers are located in dhaka, bangladesh; kampala, uganda; miranda, venezuela; timisoara, romania; jakarta, indonesia; ulaanbaatar, mongolia; lome, togo; addis ababa, ethiopia; lusaka, zambia; lima, peru; hue city, vietnam; manila, philippines; suva, fiji; tirana, albania; chisinau, republic of moldova; khartoum, sudan; nairobi, kenya; oviedo, paraguay and beijing, china. in general, each center is responsible for holding at least one course per year. Wfumb's education project provides funding for renowned Ultrasound lecturers to speak at courses in developing and emerging regions of the World in cooperation with a local Ultrasound society within that particular region. Wfumb's scholarship program subsidizes travel expenses for individuals from developing countries. Wfumb provides up to $2,000 usd for centre of education directors to attend the biennial congress to meet and participate in the educational sessions, as well as to visit and train at established Ultrasound education centers. Wfumb also provides speakers to other international education courses.
Committees and liaison activities: wfumb has several committees, including safety and education. The safety committee is responsible for preparing safety guidelines concerning the proper use of Ultrasound equipment. These guidelines are utilized by practitioners and educators to ensure safe practices in the field. The education committee focuses on developing curriculums for medical education and training, with a particular emphasis on addressing the needs of developing countries.
