World Kashmir Awareness Forum

Im collaboration with other US Based Kashmiri Diaspora Organizations, WKA engages in advocacy efforts with major organizations. Our goal is to raise awareness and confront the human rights abuses perpetrated in kashmir and support the regions right to peace and self-determination. Brutality by occupying forces, the modi government has showwn a willingness to look the other way when it comes to violence inflicted by state and poice forces. Security forces in Kashmir have used brutal and iolent tactivs when enountering peaceful protesters, detaining them without charges and due process. Communication Blockade - Freedom of movement and freedom to communicate has been all but eliminated in kashmir. In 2019 indian security forces placed the region on lockdown. They have placed checkpoints everywhere, placed down coils of wire to restrct the movement of vehicles. The government has violated the indian constitution by revoking article 370 which granted autonomy of semi-autonomy to Kashmir. The government has also eliminated the use of social media, severly curtailed the use of the internet
