Program areas at Wylie Bulldogs Education Foundation
The Foundation awarded university scholarships to 9 graduating seniors. All eligible seniors are invited to apply. To be eligible, the applicant must have attended Wylie High School their entire senior year and have maintained a "B" average. A committee consisting of 7 community and Board members evaluate the candidates based on financial need, GPA/ACT/SAT scores, references, school/community/work involvement, leadership skills and an essay. The scholarship checks are mailed directly to the registrar's office of the university for the benefit of the awarded student.
The Foundation welcomed 70 new teachers to Wylie ISD before school started. Hendrick Health teams up with the Foundation to provide a luncheon for the new teachers and the administrators from each campus. The Foundation presents a $100 Mardel's gift card to each new teacher to help furnish their new classroom. The Foundation relates its purpose and the availability of Teacher Grants.
The Foundation awarded 29 Teacher Grants. All full time teachers in Wylie ISD are eligible and encouraged to apply. A committee of 7 community and Board members evaluate the candidates' request based on the potential to involve a great number of students and consistency with Wylie ISD's goal of increasing student achievement. The Major Objectives of the request are evaluated for definable and obtainable objectives and responsiveness to a stated need. The Activities/Implementation Plan is evaluated to assure that the project's methods are research based and are instructionally sound. Methods for Evaluation of the completed project are required.The teacher grant checks are mailed directly to Wylie ISD's accountant for the benefit of the awarded teachers. The teachers purchase items approved in the grant and present receipts for reimbursement to Wylie ISD.
The Foundation made funds available for information technology needs across Wylie Independent School District campuses. These needs include the High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, and funing for the new Wylie East Intermediate School campus.
