Program areas at Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom

the Wyoming stewardship project is a pivotal program for Wyoming focusing on grades 2-5 to empower students to be our critical thinkers and problem solvers of tomorrow. This is a collaborative effort involving the Wyoming community, stakeholders, educators, field experts, and the Wyoming department of education. the goal of the project is for students to gain an understanding of Wyoming's vast resources and become informed citizens, capable of serving as stewards for Wyoming's future. Initial units have been developed focusing on natural resources and stewardship for: Agriculture, minerals and energy, as well as outdoor recreation and tourism. These units are not intended to be a burden, but were created purposefully to be easy-to-use, cross-curricular, and comprehensive, aligning to Wyoming content and performance standards.
the educator of the year award recognizes an outstanding Wyoming educator who demonstrates excellence in education by implementing innovative Agriculture and natural resource projects into their Classroom and surrounding community. Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom is committed to supporting and encouraging educators across the state.
Each year Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom encourages 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to submit a hand drawn bookmark for the program. Maps explaining Wyoming's resources are made available to classrooms across the state to begin the discussion of Wyoming stewardship and students are encouraged to create an important message to share with their peers both in a caption for their bookmark and artwork. Each year finalists are recognized in cheyenne by the governor for their achievement in art and excellence in interpreting Agriculture and natural resource concepts.
