YOUTH DEVELOPMENT The YMCA of Central Ohio believes that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve in order to reach their full potential. Throughout our 13 locations, thousands of youth have a safe place to build character, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and academic success. We are proud to be recognized as the leading provider of child care nationwide and across Central Ohio, offering high-quality programming focused on safety, health, social growth and academic enrichment. Our child care programs hold many different state licenses, NAEYC and Step Up to Quality early care & education and state-licensed school-age child care in over 11 area school districts. Over the last couple of years, YMCA of Central Ohio has continually adapted to serve children in the ways they need us most, both in-person and virtually. Our programs have included providing resources to close the achievement gap, teach teens vital leadership skills, and opportunities for swim, sports & play that provide positive, fun activities that inspire healthy lifestyles and social-emotional growth. Day and overnight camp programs continue to make accommodations that offer an exciting, safe community for young people and families to explore the outdoors, build self-esteem, develop self-confidence and make lasting friendships and memories.
HEALTHY LIVING Throughout our service area, the YMCA of Central Ohio is a leading voice on health and wellbeing. Adapting our most loved programs to function virtually or in-person, so every member can continue their wellness journey and every family has a resource to grow together and reach their full potential. With a mission centered on safety and access, the YMCA brings families closer together, encouraging good health and fostering connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, youth, adults and families receive support, guidance and resources needed to achieve a healthier spirit, mind, and body. From community outreach to connecting seniors who are isolated, the YMCA of Central Ohio is helping people of all ages and from every walk of life live a healthier lifestyle. We are proud to offer in-person and virtual programming that brings families together; a full range of health, wellbeing and fitness programs that provide the resources and guidance to maintain or improve physical, mental and social health. Silver Sneakers, Renew Active and Silver & Fit programming allow free access to the YMCA for older adults.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY The YMCA of Central Ohio has been listening and responding to our communities' most critical social needs for over 165 years. Whether developing skills or emotional well-being through training, welcoming newcomers, celebrating and connecting diverse demographic populations, providing food for families in need, offering shelter and critical supportive housing services to those experiencing homelessness, or preventing chronic disease and building healthier communities through advocacy and collaborations with policymakers, community leaders and private and public organizations, the YMCA fosters the care and respect all people need and deserve to reach their full potential. The YMCA continues to adapt to serve new, vital needs in our community. Through the YMCA, thousands of volunteers, donors, members, leaders and partners are empowering central Ohioans and the communities in which they live, to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
Vending: The YMCA sells small items to members such as water bottles, swim goggles, etc. This amounted to net $8959 in 2023.
